little miss sunshine is every one's favorite girl
riding on trains, planes, and automobiles
on her way to unknown places
not sure of what's waiting around the corner

the goals are decided and
the plans are made
there are no detours for little miss sunshine
she is heading down a one way road paved with gold

little miss sunshine
is so focused everything is so clear
and laid out for her
a fan favorite
they are left in the dark unable to see
that she's only perfect at being imperfect

little miss sunshine wants to be able to have a bad day
and feel as though it's okay to complain
take the smile plastered on her face off
remove the weight of the world from her shoulders
and have them massaged

little miss sunshine is wearing thin
tired of everyone holding the ideal life sign
over her head
little miss sunshine is no hero
she gets tired of other people's expectations, frustrated,
and wants to quit sometimes
she gets weary, cries silent tears, and screams to no one
sometimes desires to just drop the mike and walk off stage
in the middle of her performance

making plans about taking chances
wanting to jump in feet first
but trying to test the waters
at the same time

little miss sunshine once so sure
now has had things turned upside down
thinking about running, jumping,tumbling, and flying
all at the same time

is left speechless
and feeling like turning against the norm
turned by something so simple
woke up in the morning
didn't know who was looking back at her in the mirror
all was there was an unsure face
confused about what was going on inside

losing grip on the one thing she thought that she could control
it was hers only to keep close

but not for anyone in arms length to hear
