tired...

sometimes i just get tired
i get tired of being the one
who has to represent an entire race
while trying to represent for an entire sex
sometimes i want to pass the cape on to someone else
and ask them to defend it for me today
why can't i turn to those who look like me
to step up and take the reigns
i'm tired of looking like the one
who's taking things too seriously
by those who don't take things serious enough
the bricks on my back get heavy
as i try to educate educated people
on what seems to be common sense
shamefully i sometimes ask why was this task given to me
when will i be able to take a breath
and blend into the background and be like everyone else....
